The MaxPower bow thruster on Tintin worked in September, but doesn't now.

I hear the contactor "clunk" when power is turned onto it at the switchpanel.

It goes up and down.

When switching port or starboard the unit mounted contactors clunk and can be seen to have switched with the cover off.

From the pic I have measured the voltage across the 2 points. I expected to see battery voltage but instead only saw 2.7v

If the forward battery was NFG I wouldn't expect the "clunks" nor the unit going up and down.

The fwd battery is pretty inaccessible right now so I will check it when I have time to.

Next thought is the first supply contactor, but I struggle to see how a relatively simple relay could only pass a few volts.

Any ideas?

How much weed around it? I assume it’s on a flap which lowers and maybe flap isn’t going down properly if you have a dirty hull ?
None, she was only launched a week ago Mon, then fast delivery sail from Scotland to Falmouth.

Sounds like your forward battery is basically almost completely dead...but it is indeed surprising that the raise/lower actuator motor will function at such a low voltage.

Am wondering if that all powers up from the main bank. Will find out later.

Isn't it these MaxPower retracting drives that had an issue with faulty thermal overload cut outs? Some apparently had a second heat sensor fitted ready to reconnect if first failed. But the alternative was to short out from system altogether.
May be entirely unrelated, but ....
