Don,t really understand what you mean, but I recently bought a gps to go with MAX SEA, it had to be installed with the disc supplied, it works well. Sorry I can,t be more helpful, I am a total dud with computors, but as I say it is no prob, even for me! Bill.
You need to check the comms port that the PC is using for your GPS. If it is a a USB GPS then check the following on the PC (if it connected to a hard serial port then lokk at the serial ports in the list):
My Computer
Control Panel
System
Hardare
Device Manager
From the list expand Com and LPT, and then see which port has been assigned to the GPS;right click on that port and then slect Port Settings. You will see the Baud Rate, Data bits, Parity, Stop bits and Flow control shown. Set these for your GPS: most likely settings are 4800 (or 9600), 8, none, 1, None. Under the general tab you will see which Comm Port has been assigned; you will now need to set the port used by your charting software to be the same as this (I don't know how you do this with Maxsea but I'm sure someone else will be able to tell you).
To check incoming GPS data to the PC, you can run Hyperlink as follows:
Then set up a New Connection and after giving it a name you will get to a panel where you enter into the field called "Connect Using", the comm port previously identified. You should see lots of GPS data coming into Hyper Terminal.
