Matsutec HA-102 configuring

The supplied CD only runs on Windows.

I am a Mac man but can lower myself to purchase one of the lesser breeds for the purpose of setting up the AIS.

What minimum do I need? I can buy a Windows 7 laptop for peanuts. Would it do the job?

My old Macbook Pro runs Windows XP in a virtual machine. I should think the software has been superseded, but it was called Parallels Desktop.

Depends on the age of the Mac - modern ones use Mac-only processors, so you need to recompile everything, or run an emulator (if possible).

I have succeeded in programming all the parameters and the unit appears to receive classified A & B transmissions. It also transmits successfully as it is visible on Marine Traffic.
However, it does not display AIS on my Raymarine E80.
I have measured the NMEA0183 output and it is a solid -5 volts.
I guess something is broken. Anyone know if there is a repair facility in the UK please?

Have you actually checked that the correct sentences are being sent out to the chartplotter. They are obviously present at the transmit side as you have observed the result on marine traffic.
On the HP 33A there is a page where you have to select ais output rather than gps output in order to be able to display ais info on a connected chart plotter or PC.

On the hp33a standard GPS sentences are transmitted at a lower 4800 baud rate the AIS is at 38400 .

I used the free to download open cpn software that has a useful nmea monitor to check for sentences being sent to my PC.

There are other free downloads that will do the same and someone will be along in a minute to tell you what they are!

On the HA102, both gps and AIS output are available on different pins. If I could find my Maplin oscilloscope or if the cheap Chinese replacement worked, I could perform a proper check on the output.
However, the fact that it is at -5v (yes - negative) suggests something bad has happened.
The class A and B lights flash realistically and the transmit light flashes at a frequency which seems reasonable.

Edit. I have just discovered that, although voltage levels +5/0 volts are normal, an earlier standard permitted ±12-15 volts.
I have also found that opto isolators are mandatory so the chances I have blown something seems slight.

Hi Graham I was wondering if you could help. I have the same unit but lost the CD would you mind sharing the config file as they seem to have removed the whole support section of the website?

Hi - several people have warned me off this device - just wondering if you lot managed to get your Matsutec working and whether it still works?
Thanks
