Hello - my 1969 Snappy 26 needs new wiring in mast but to my dismay the masthead doesn't come off to expose the sheaves and the bottom of the mast is also riveted shut except for a small drain hole. THe old wiring won't budge - I've tried to pull on it so I may use it to pull new wiring through. I don't want to pull so hard that the wiring breaks inside. Has anyone else encountered such an issue? Has anyone run a small conduit up the side of the mast for wiring on the outside or is that ridiculous? Thanks for your advice..

I have a small conduit running up the side of the mast, it was there when I bought the boat. It's doing it's job and it's not in the way etc. but I'm not sure if it'll be staying.

As sailorman said, you will need to drill out the rivets, then re do them when your finished. I had to do a this when i fitted an anemometer to my snappy 890. Its not a difficult or time consuming job really, i had mine done in a day, without having to take the mast out of the tabernacle.
