Mast removal?

Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering whether anyone on here has had any experience with mast removal at Rouen?

I am looking at taking my boat (warrior 40) down through the French canals to the Med. So if anyone has any tips or good company contacts, they would be much appreciated.

I'm not sure whether it would be better to bring the mast down by road or on board?

Has anyone got expereince or suggestions with this?

The best (cheapest) place to get it done is Honfleur. At Rouen you have to go and tie up in the commercial dock till the mast is down, not very pleasant! If you start off with it down, you can get under the bridges and go straight to Villetards pontoon.

You could have a look here the info is quite old now but the distances are correct.

Rouen has a bad reputation - whether deserved or not I can't say, but it has.
We dismasted at Honfleur - our website has details, plus lots of other inland waterway passage information.

The facilities at Le Havre are good - they know what they are doing with the crane which really helps - Le Havre is also well placed to make the best of the tide up the Seine.. Quite a lot of canal stuff on my web site...
