Any particular reason against using alloy popers from B&Q (£!.50 per 100) instead of Monel (£2 for 4!) on low stress mast applications eg VHF mount?

Monel rivets: inner pin of stainless steel is isolated from the aluminium mantle: no galvanic corrosion

B&Q: no isolation

OK to use BQ when:

Fixation is away from salt water (i.e. top of mast, and even then)
Dose of sikaflex is applied when placing rivet

For the few pounds involved I would use the correct rivets. Climbing up the mast is a pain and if the rivets fail it's bound to be when you really want to use the radio!
