Thinking of using this for haliards any info please

Would you use 10mm Marlowbraid (40% stronger than braid on braid) for main and spinnaker haliard on 26 foot yacht

Works fine, don't think you can do much better without going to the really high tech really expensive stuff.

Used to have a marlowbraid (type) halyard on the main. As it stretched, it will, during a sail I used to have to keep on tightening it, especially in a bot of a blow, when of course it was more difficult. Changed to Dyneema now, that's OK.

I have 8mm Marlowbraid for spinnaker halyard and pole uphaul on my 26 footer. No problems with it, although as others have said you'll get lower stretch with Dyneema. I used Dyneema for main and genoa, by keeping my eyes open for lots on Ebay at a reasonable price.

10mm is a bit tight on the sheaves of my mast.

8mm Marlowbraid ended up 50p/metre on special offer from Jimmy Green. 8mm Marlow D2 Dyneema was £35 for 30 metres off Ebay.

One advantage with Marlowbraid is that its easier to splice than doublebraid (well easier for me in any case). I haven't dared splice the Dyneema which will need one of these "core-to-core" doublebraid splices.

Use Dyneema for the main, as others have said the lack of stretch is really worth having.
Judging by running rigging fitted to our Elan the Dyneema can be one size smaller than conventional braids, worth checking this to save a few bob.
The main shackle is knotted to the halliard - no attempt at splicing but a 30 M2 main is no problem for 10mm Dyneema.

We switched from ss/rope combo to dyneema last year for main, genoa and cutter sails. We did not go down a size as we like belt and braces. We use 12 and 14mm all purchased on ebay at a fraction of the normal cost. We have some strange colours and you have to be patient and wait until the right length and diam. come up. You should not have such a problem with the smaller stuff.
