Is this the state of the market. In this months MBM a boat was advertised at £33,500 and it looked cheap so I rang up about it. They did not know that the advert said £33,500, aparrently it was a misprint and should have been £75,500
mine must have been the only enquiry otherwise they would have allready known about the misprint.
It reminded me of when I was selling cars and due to a misprint the car was advertised at £5000 less than I paid for it. And I did not receive a single phone call. Made me wonder if I had made a mistake.
Certainly with this boat if the boatyard staff were unaware that the boat was advertised at less than half price it shows how much interest there was in the boat at this price, so now even at £33,500 I dont want it. Am I wrong???

Or maybe it shows how many people read the adverts in MBM ;)

Just shows how much attention to detail the brokers shows in their adverts....not.

So it's not just boats and not just right now!!

I have been looking and calling on boats here in the US for the past few weeks and more than one long time dealer has told me that they have never seen the boat market this bad; they are advising customers to lower advertised prices in order to get people to even come looking so they can try to get an offer; IMO a good time to buy if you got cash because financing on a used boat is going to be expensive if at all possible, but if you have cash then good deals can be had...

Might it not be that people are savvy enough to have a feel for "market price" (another thread I know ) and as such, when they see something so obviously underpriced they assume scam or error and so disregard the item on offer

Of course the only boat a broker is going to push are the ones they actually own, this boat on brokerage in the meantime is probably costing over £100 a week on a pontoon in the brokers marina. So in fact if it was sold and was taken somewhere else they would be worse off. Am I right???

I am not sure that in the current climate people would assume it is an error. Sad reality is that even at low prices mobo's don't appear to be shifting. Not good for owners who want to move on.....

wrong!!!!!.............. I know of 3 Princess 42 Flybridges being sold in the last 3 weeks !!....one of which I am purchasing..............maybe the market isn't as slow as some peeps think!!

The cream always rises to the top. As with any product in any market, the best will always be a tradeable commodity, maybe not at as high a price as before, but there is always demand. The dross has no demand and so is unsellable at any price ....imo....

Not strictly true as anthing thing will sell eventually,it just requires a buyer prepared to pay what he "thinks" the boat is worth in its current state .

Find moi a P42 at "dross" money and you have a buyer. :)

Clearly some boats are selling and some brokers have had a good patch recently but this isn't representative of the market in general IMHO. Just speak to any Broker.

Congrats on the new boat BTW.....the P42 is a very nice boat.
