Mark Proudfoot aka Magnum RIP

My condolences to Mark's family, I came here to recently to have gotten to know him.
Now knowing who he was, it is mainly thanks to him and his company that I can type this on this computer as it was put together via his website.

Having followed this forum for 20 years or so, Magnum and other contributors on here did make an impression that's stuck in the memory even you never met them personally.

A few weeks ago on a delivery trip I stopped by the Idyllic island of Læsø near the NE tip of Denmark. Walking along the docks looking at boats this P68 and its name immediately caught my eye.

Could it be the same boat and that the new owners kept the name?

Wow what a find! Yes he did sell the boats with the magnum name still, although I do remember him being annoyed when he learnt that the new owners didn’t change it aha.

The Princess 68 must have arrived in Denmark in the last year or so. Last couple of summers it was in Antibes, still registered in Marshall Islands. Perhaps changed hands in the last year.

Nathan, nice to hear from you. You won't remember me but we met (with your brother A, and your father and C) in Antibes) in 2009 (I think) when the sunseeker was new. I met your father many times and helped him a bit on the sale of Overclockers (my day job is corporate M & A). I also helped C sell the sailing boat Magnum, as I knew the guy who bought it.

Anyway I hope you enjoy your next chapter owning a boat. Best wishes

I’m sorry I can’t quite remember you! You didn’t happen to own a Squadron 58 did you? I know we stayed on one of my dads friends boats there once and I still remembered what model it was!

:) I wouldn't expect you to remember! Yes that was my Squadron 58, called Braveheart. Maybe 2006 or 7 - not sure. Parked about 12 places along the quay from where Sunseeker Magnum was later parked.

Incredible! I loved that boat, Antibes was amazing too. I’m considering my first boat and a Squadron 58 of that vintage is on the list just because of how spacious it is inside.

Yup. I loved that boat so much I bought 2 of them. The first was a 2004 Sq58, and when I sold it in 2008 I bought another = a 2009 Sq58, which was the same boat with very slight facelifts :)

It's a great boat. Big for a first boat, though if you learn fast you'll be fine. Great interior space for family.
