It's been very quiet in the CB forum these past few days. A good time to try and post a photo for the first time.

I took this picture of a pretty yawl on the East River NY; that's Manhattan in the background.

Yep, very nice! It's a pity that they don't have the topsail rigged as it looks calm enough for one. However, they appear to under iron topsail, so perhaps we should be assuming that they are manoevring into a berth. It has a very European appearance, with the short bow overhang and using a staysail. Very similar to Claud Worth's Tern IV
Peter.

According to my 1969 Register of Yachts, the entry under Klang II reads:-
Type, Aux Cutter,
Owners, KR Taylor & Mrs KR Taylor
Port of registry, Jersey
Home port, Melbourne

loa 46.75 ft, lwl 39.0ft
draft 5.5ft
Sail area 630sq ft
Sailmaker, Gowen '61
Builder, WE Thomas Falmouth 1924
Designer, WE Thomas
Engine, Petrol motor, 6 cyl, 90 bhp, chrysler

Very interesting! Worth says in "Yacht Navigation & Voyaging", that Tern IV was built in 1924, but by Philip's of Dartmouth. She was 62ft overall, and 49ft on the waterline. I would have thought that as her home port is Melbourne, I would have known of her, but I confess ignorance on this occasion.
Peter.
