Do you all suffer the same frustrations as me?

You found the website you want and decide you want to ask a question. Instead of them giving you a direct email link (which work OK), they provide you with a form to fill in and then submit.........

And that's it! The last you ever hear from them.

I mean. What is the point? What is the point? You ask somebody to do something which they've suggested, and they don't do it! What is the point? I've had a go at my computer and threatened to thrash it with a tree branch but to no avail!

Lately this has happened with the Plastimo and Zodiac websites - but it's not confined to them.

Just another example of this glossy, spin orientated world that promises so much but often fails to deliver.

It's a lack of joined up thinking within the compnay, not knowing how to link the website correctly with their business, if you offer it at the front end, the back end must be there to support it.

Refer them to me, I'll help them out !

Seasonal Crap Service Syndrome

Bear in mind that you are making your request in the middle of the office party season, with the office party obviously having preference over prospects.

TRUE STORY

I was once local advertising manager for a retail chain. In the middle of our office Christmas party the phone rang. "Someone wants to speak to the local advertsing manager". I take the phone, a Scottish voice.

"Hello, it's the production manager of the Broughty Ferry Guide and Carnoustie Gazette. Errr, I dinnae quite ken hoo tae tell yoo this, but we woor having oor office party and somewan managed tae empty a bottle o' wine o'er a pile of artwork including yair January sale ad for ra December 27th issue. Och, I'm afraid it's nae recoverable. We're verry sorry, but is there any chance you cuid send it again?"

It goes without saying that the ad agency was in the middle of its Christmas party as well.

Panasonic's another one. Customer service by e-mail? Zilch. Letter in an envelope time now! Only the CEO gets this one.

That seems to be pretty general. For some reason, people ignore e mails in a way they dont ignore letters.

why?

Broughty Ferry Guide and Carnoustie Gazette

Ken,

What on earth were you advertising in this paper??

As a former resident of Carnoustie and avid reader of this epitome of the journalistic art, I want to know !

Re: Broughty Ferry Guide and Carnoustie Gazette

I worked for Currys, and in those days they had a store or three north of ra border. At the time I developed a good party trick. If you gave any UK placename, I could tell you which local paper(s) covered it. Sad, eh?

Well, at least it has some claim to fame!

Apart from the mention here, of course.

Hi Boys

You are of course forgetting that the most beautiful women in the world come from Broughty Ferry. I am one of those proud enough to bear the name on my passport ... and that's not all I bare. Click here to see for yourselves.

As to the point about the website, I know what you mean ... I am still waiting for more details about a boat and a sailing course in the BVI to come through. Guess I'll wait forever ...

The only way to have control over websites is to host your own! If you want a cheap website to display your boat and/or other assets /forums/images/icons/smile.gif drop me a PM.
