Marine megatsore - live chat conversation - bit bizarre

Too many people have had troubles with Marine Megastore. Myself included.

How do we report Marine Megastore to trading standards?

Find out who the chairman/MD are and send them a registered letter containing a copy of this thread and indicating that it has been seen so far by 1262 potential customers who won't now touch them with a barge pole.

I find that this is often the only way that brings results.

I don't blame the bloke - its the system he has to work in

I would not like his job.... and I should have listened to the warnings on here about MMS

apart from losing a couple of days on the water it provided a bit of entertainment

and I got to spend a couple of days at home with my adult kids, dog, bike, and edited some more trucking and horse films so it was not a zero sum game

all part of life's rich tapestry.

besides, occasionally on KTL the boot is on the other foot - some sailors, naming no names, seem to think that $4.99 gets them life-time software support for everything on their computers.

They usually get ten personal emails from me - if we still can't get them going then I give them a refund but leave their sub intact and ask them to get their grandson to help them

you would be amazed how many people find a new bond with their offspring via KTL and videolan

there are, as far as I know a couple of blokes on here who have a very low opinion of me and KTL - and there is another bloke on Cruising Anarchy who says he would like to smash my head in with a lead pipe

- nice!

but I think he might be the one with the problem and not me.

In one of the earliest threads re Marine Megastore problems I contacted Richard Pattinson, a Director of the company and referred him to these threads, and the fact that he was getting very bad publicity for his company through the forum.

I emailed him direct, and had a reply wherein he said that he'd introduce the 'livechat' to speak directly to the customer. A few forum members who almost gave up on their order/refunds were contacted, and got their money back, when I quoted these to him shortly afterward.
I have been twice in person to Hamble and it basically seems like a 2 staff operation, but I've got the items I asked for within a couple of hours, or a day or so and received a first order discount of 10% (on both items) but this was prior to the mention of the poor service and response/refunds.

From what I hear now I shall not be using them for any future requirements,as I don't expect their warranty services are up to much either should an item fail to be
as advertised.

much as the possibly naughty ones near your home may have offended, ( I used to be a guide at Tangmere Museum, and we were asked by Customs to look out for any unauthorised use of the redundant runways as people may be bringing in funny substances ) there is no comparison between Microlights and jetski's, the former wouldn't last a second if not well handled, and I've done photo-sorties with the Microlight Association who were very professional.

As for Marine MegaNumpties, I too am surprised you went for them no matter how tempting, it's not exactly space age engineering; I agree with the poster who wondered if Port Solent's excellent Marine Super Store who have given me A1 service lose custom because of being mixed up with these clowns.

Seconded. Can't fault Port Solent MARINE SUPERSTORE.

I am just surprised that they can't tweek their Google presence to differentiate from MegaMinnows.

Bargepole, sharp practise, timewasters, indifferent, incompetent...word association !

The "museum" is housed in what was "Ground Radio Flight" when it was an operational base. I was only 3 and a bit when we moved into No. 1 AMQ , RAF Tangmere (demolished now) and my father worked in that building. We subsequently moved on Dad's promotion to No. 2 site and the houses are still standing and I've yet to get the courage up to go and knock on the door of no. 78.

I visited the museum last year and after about 40 minutes it suddenly came to me that some 55years later I just knew that I had been in that building in my youth (with my father) - don't ask me how I knew; it was like an aura coming over me - and I then had a long chat with the other guides about Tangmere (I was in the village primary school and was one of the first pupils in the new primary school opened, IIRC, in 1957.).. and then onto RAF Waterbeach in 1957 with No 1 and 54 fighter squadrons; - that's another story!
