My experience exactly! I've also given up with the igniter and bought a bbq thingy. I might have another look at the igniter next year but it's well down the "list".

The cooker will replace a Flavel Vanessa ,so size may be an issue. Many thanks for all your replies and will be checking dimensions carefully.

I also have a Nelson Spinflo, came out as a best buy for the price in tests some years ago. Replaced a Flavel, had to fiddle the gimbals to fit but pleased with it, now 10 years old. Search around for best price.

I replaced the flavel vanessa that was fitted to my boat with a Spinflo Parker, it was the only one I could find that would fit easily into the existing surroundings. It works very well.

Very happy with Plastimo Neptune. Previous boat had one and present boat circa 1997 still has its original one. In use for about 15 years for up to 4 months a year and just last year I had to replace the oven door seal and the grill assembly. Love my toast so toaster is used on a daily basis for that and also for grilling as frying is not allowed. Whilst the oven is not the most sophisticated, you would be surprised what SWMBO produces.

On my Plastimo Neptune the grill is useless as it only heats a narrow strip immediately under the burner. Any suggestions as to what I should do to get it working properly like the above.

You may well find that the mesh either side of the burner has either rusted or burnt away.
You can buy the mesh on its own or together with a new burner unit. In bought both but found that the old burner unit could not be removed without shearing off the fixing screws so I just replaced it completely. Still have a spare mesh. Easy enough job, just remember to remove the flame failure device at the back first and refit it after fitting the new burner assembly.

Price has gone up a bit, see they are now asking around £83 for the complete grill assembly. Only got round to fitting mine last year but when I bought it back in 2008 from Leisure Products is was around half that price.

Thanks for that, on my cooker the mesh appears to be intact, it's the flames that don't come out fiercely enough to reach out and heat more than a narrow strip of mesh.

Sounds like you have some sort of restriction in the gas supply. Might be worth trying to have a go at cleaning out the small holes along the burner unit. If these are clear then it might be the hole that supplies the gas to the unit. Former is easy as you can get at them from underneath. Latter might be possible without removing the burner unit, can't remember exactly how accessible it is. If you need to remove the burner unit, then just make sure that the 2 screws which you can see on top of the hob unit that hold it in come out easily as you don't want to shear them off.

The Plastimo is, in fact made by Leisure Products in Bolton - I bought their top-end of range cooker to replace a Plastimo Neptune which had collapsed due to the main body rusting out. The Leisure Products stove was £180 compared to the Plastimo Neptune @ £280 (LIBS offer). That was 20 years ago. The Plastimo now appears to cost £495.
Since then it has performed as a liveaboard stove with no problem except replacement oven sealing rubber, grill reflector and mounting bracket. It has flame failure devices on all burners, a thermostatically controlled oven, twin burners and grill. Unlike the collapsed Plastimo it is of 304 stainless, only the oven carcass being mild-steel.
The burners need regular cleaning, due to rust build up reducing the air passages and causing sooty yellow flames, but no other maintenance issues have emerged. Spares are readily obtainable from Leisure Products, who I've found to be very satisfactory suppliers

The problem as already flagged up in earlier posts in this thread, is that Leisure Products will now only supply to the trade and not to the public. Spares are available but at a much increased cost.

Not sure what you are implying here.
If you link to their website and go to the spares section you get this message:
"Please note we only supply directly to OEM & Trade outlets.
Please contact your nearest chandlery shop or the main marine distributor in your country"
I have bought from them directly in the past but last time I tried I was informed that they no longer suppl direct to the public but I had to contact Spares Marine.

They no longer despatch to private addresses. If you call @ 27, Holly St Bolton, they'll quite happily sell you the parts you need.
They have put all their marine business through Bainbridge but, when I last spoke with them, still supplied a large caravan market. Those latter cookers are made to a different spec, less stainless.
If you can't call there, or provide Bainbridge with a trade entity, you must resign yourself to paying 3 to 4 mark-ups, which will quite easily treble prices.
Neither Leisure Products or Bainbridge are terribly demanding to deal with - they just don't want lots of small orders, from "difficult" customers who want to pay by credit card and increase their bank-costs.

Hi, Talking about cookers ,we would like to fit a belling full cooker lpg that was FITTED IN not free standing ie( no back or sides) ,in a caravan . And want to put it in our motor cruiser trawler gally ,we cannot find anything in marine regs to say we cannot do this but does anybody know different ,any help would be much appreciated.
