Marina Charges

In fact I am berthed in a tricky berth that was intended for a 40 footer, but I am only 32ft. It was the only berth free when I was relaunched some years ago as my previous berth was blocked by a large fishing boat. The berth is nice and wide, close to the toilet block and much closer to the pontoon entrance. So win, win for me.

Good work.
Bloke I know has the best berth in the marina with a finger on both sides and a couple of feet to spare. All he has to do, in any conditions, is poke the boat into the slot and he can dismount on either side. Don't know how he wangled it.

Some visitors to our marina would still manage to bang into another yacht, even if they had berths like that

They’ve probably been misrepresenting the length of their boat at the marina office for so long they think the boat is smaller than it really is?
At Bradwell they nick, not only the hose fittings, but now, I am told, the hoses as well. I have had my mooring lines taken, so it does not surprise me that some owners find it quite acceptable to tell fibs about the boat length. Pity as it means that one can trust almost no one, because of the actions of a few.

That's unfortunate, I have never had that experience at Bradwell Marina.

The owner was supplying a hose to a MOBO owner to use. I made a comment about the fact that there was only one available & it was pointed out that they were often being stolen. I regularly note missing hose lock adaptors from the taps. When I posted about my concern on this forum, some years ago, several owners seemed to think that they were fair game.
I now put cable ties onto my dock lines & use low quality ropes, so that they are less attractive, because my berth is next to a couple of visitors berths. I am often away for several weeks at a time so my berth gets used by visitors as well. I have no objection to others using them, but It is annoying to find any missing on my return

I’m not sure that one episode of theft amounts to a general case but it is certainly regrettable. Although it is nice to come upon a hose adaptor in place, it is something that I have only occasionally met and regard it as something I would normally provide myself. I haven’t generally feared for the safety of my dock lines which are shackled to the hoops, but have occasionally returned to find a slimy rope dangling in the water, which is why we always removed them when away for any long time. There are only a relatively few miscreants around but they do create havoc, and make it hard for the rest of us to trust each other.
