I have seen various Tomahawks for sale across the net. The price and descriptions appear to fit what I am looking for. I am interested in your opinions about them, any faults to look for and any other suggestions for similar sized boats that I should consider.

I did look at one a few years back and was told they are well designed/built. There was a review in PBO Dec 1999 page 52 according to my search on the PBO site. Paul

Very nice boats though not huge for their size especially by modern standards. Marcon were the builders and in their day were of a comparable size to Westerly or Macwester. Many if not most would have been home completed from kits of pre-fabricated internal woodwork etc. so quality of finish may vary considerably, both fin keel and twin keels were available. From the same stable as the Trident 24 and the Sabre 27.

Have a good look at the Sabre 27 it has very good accommodation and is a good sea boat. Also there is a very active owners association. I owned a sabre for six years prior to having my present boat. Look at the web site http://www.sabre27.org.uk I declare an interest as I am still web master.

Good boats tough and quite quick, weak point can be the rudder tangs as they can rust loose from the stock, many boats have had there rudders checked usually indicated by a large patch on the rudders side where a piece of glass has been removed for internal inspection and then reglassed same applies to Sabre 27 (as well as many other boats)but if a problem is found it is not two much of a job to correct and should not put you off.
