Anyone familiar with these boats?
One for sale near us. Looks good, nice sturdy motorsailer from what I can see from the pictures. Aft cabin takes up a lot of space?

I once sailed one from Cardiff to Liverpool via Wexford , the aft cabin was where i slept and it’s not small but I had two great nights sleep in it and I would say it’s a perfect size. The salon was a great size to with two berths up front , I would say it’s the biggest 30 foot boat I’ve been on good headroom and certainly the one we where on was very well fitted out, most of our journey was on the motor but what little sailing we did was ok. I did go out a few more times from Liverpool and the best sail I ever had on it was when the wind got up and we had to put a reef in the main , but when we did it sailed really really well all in all I would sing it’s praises

Hmm
A few issues to deal with here, I see.
1) Claymore - fabulous boat. Had ours for 25 years. Spent about twice as much on it as we bought it for which probably means we could be wandering around in a HR 36 by now.
2) Aft cabin. Spacious indeed - - amongst Claymore owners it is known as the Aft State room or Fornicatorium - although those days seem to be dwindling in my case.
3) Wullyum and my blow up toys. The nichts are lengthening in Ardfern and Wullys probation officer and the local Social worker plus the polis thought it would be a good idea tae keep the wee beggar occupied so hence the activity. I think there is to be a youtube production recording his wrestling activities from the foredeck to the wheelhouse.

Going back to the original post. I love the boat, she can slog through any seas that we have been out in, keeps us warm and dry on the occasional occasion when precipitation is in sight. Wonderful accommodation for 2 people, good accommodation for 4 and fine for 6 although a bit of a squeeze but very possible.
She's not great to winsward but then again - who wants to be? Loves a 2 sail beam reach and is awesome under spinnaker - especially if its a grey one. (Don't ask)
They seem to vary in value and obviously are hit by the plummet in 2nd hand values so we are not considering selling.
I think this is well worth a look at
It will be Brian Black's boat - Pavane which was featured in YM or PBO a while back
Boat Details - Mark Cameron Yachts - Specialist Sail and Motorboat Brokerage

Thanks, sounds like a great boat, it's something am looking for to live aboard next summer. Initial talks to the vendor has dried up a bit on the account of them not getting back to me.
Thanks for the link, she looks like a great boat

has a look of our Neptunian 33 and similar characteristics ( also be Marcon) Not sure where the extra 3 feet we have has been put ? as the individual 'rooms' and cockpit look of similar size.

Hi 38mess, I know this post was some time back, but I’d really like to find out more about the Claymore 30. I’ve just purchased one that was for sale in Swansea. Any pointers to put me in touch with the right peeps? How does one PM on this forum. Thanks

Hi Robbie, I didn't get the boat. The owner didn't respond to any communications off us. Shame really. I think forum member claymore looks like the guy to talk to. But I don't think that you can send PM's until you have a few posts under your belt

Many many thanks. Helps navigate the forum. Hopefully you found what you were looking for instead. I just happened to come across this one, and seems there had been very little interest. I put in what I believed to be a very low offer which was accepted! Visited once in a 10 min rush!! What have I done 😱

Bought a good solid motorsailer well suited to Irish Sea sailing.

Make a list of everything that needs checking. Alongside it another list of what needs fixed/replaced. Leave plenty of space for discoveries. Start fixing and go sailing as soon as you safely can.

Welcome to the world of looking after old boats. A great reservoir of how to knowledge on here and the Internet in general.

Many thanks Supertramp! Yes, a lot to do I’m sure, and just hoping not all endless hours of fettling and rebuilding. I do know my first order is to see if / how damaged the engine 4.107 may be.
I’m constantly between Wales/England/Ireland for work, so yes, all those ferry rides must have steamed up my imagination. I was drawn to the thickness and quality of that fibreglass hull!

Hi Robbie.
I didn't get any boat in the end, I think it was a case of lockdown fever and a need to escape at the time. I already own a vessel which I run commercially, and that takes up most of my time keeping it in good condition.
so maybe getting another boat wasn't the best idea, especially one that needs some work.
But good luck with the boat, they do look great boats and something for me to think about when I eventually retire.
