We have one and it works ok on our berth but the water is always slack, so less cloudy. The wife likes to tape on a piece of wire add some bait, send it to the bottom and watch the wild life. It's very addictive. Works outside as well when the tide is not running to hard.

will it work just plugged into a USB socket on a computer, or rather does it have the software to support this.

The short answer is NO. The only thing you can plug into it is a VCR recorder.

I got just the camera only from HK via E-Bay and I plug it direct into the video input of my TV. I even got a video combiner that can combine 4 video inputs to display on one screen like the security camera setups.
