Does anyone have any information on what Malte is like as a destination for wintering in. Such as climate, mooring costs, availability etc.

We were there a couple of Xmas ago in a hotel without boat.
Brief forecast was about 20ishC very windy (trip to Scicily got cancelled) and when it rained it came down like stair rods!!!!!!

Hi
Long time since I've been there, but I have been in December on a package hol.
I remmember it as being short days, chilly evenings and windy. Light jacket or pully during the day. I was on a rented motorcycle and found the early evening put a lot of moisture down on the road surface which made it very exciting to ride on. Condensation could be a problem onboard a boat. Hope this helps.

I was there 27/12 to 1/1/03, cheapo lastminute.con deal. 17degC, some showers; windyish. Lovely. Tried to enquire at Manoel Island Boatyard re lay up but closed for hols. Jane liked the idea of antifouling there next winter (her contribution to maintenance is antifouling and deck painting, no mean feat as Blue Hound is 51', steel, with 9' draft).

Grand Harbour is really impressive - did the tourist boat trip. Average depth of harbour 36m.

Also, stern-to berths at quay in Marahmsett (can't remember spelling) harbour next door to Grand Harbour.

Definitely worth further investigation.
