I’m thinking of buying a Majestic 24 trailer sailer. Does anyone know if there are any boat test reports available? Or is there an owner who can give me any pointers and advice?

I’m new to sailing having done some flotilla holidays abroad and recently passed day skipper. This will be my first boat. My plan is to keep the boat “on the drive” and to trail to different locations for long weekends or for a week or two at a time. Mostly myself and my wife but also occasionally friends and family.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know the boat, but she looks interesting on the manufacturer's web site.

I assume you're looking at the cruising version, which weighs in at 1500kg empty. It's not clear if any of this is water ballast, but if not your boat will weigh in at 300kg more than the Macgregor 26. Add a trailer, water, fuel, supplies, outboad (?), etc., and you'l have well over 2 tons to drag down the road. That's going to need a substantial 4X4 to keep up a reasonable average speed safely, or to pull everything up a steep slipway.

I suspect you may find launching and recovery hard work, especially in a bit of wind.

As far as I can judge, most people with larger trailer sailers tend to leave them on a mooring most of the time, and only trail them to a holiday destination or home for winter. However, I know people who do what you're proposing, so it can be done.
