I have dealt with this company before with no problems but a recent ( 14th Dec ) order was not delivered and they are not responding to e-mails. Anybody else had a problem with them or should I just be patient ?
I've used them a few times and they've always been very good. That said, although I've usually ordered on-line, any further contact has been made by 'phone (to confirm delivery etc). Might be worth putting in a call?
I would write a letter addressed to the Managing Director and send it Recorded Delivery [and keep a copy of it]. From now on, and until the complaint is resolved, you ought to be keeping records that might be useful if it comes to court.
Alternatively, gather a few unwashed forumites and stage a sit-in at the company's office.
Have they taken money for it as well as not delivered ? had no problems in the past either.. suspect there tied up with boat show stuff but thats no excuse. they dont have much stock at base at the moment as it will probably at the show. you may have to wait a few weeks for them to get the stock back and sorted first.
/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I've used them quite a lot over the years and have been quite happy. It's always worth ringing them. The person who answers usually comes up with the solution. My last delay with them was during the Southampton Boat Show when lots of staff were involved down there.
I hope this doesn't mean that their recent increase in size has started that slippery slope down to impersonality and inefficiency. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Good service from them last year. It would have taken a while to get what I wanted but as I was in a hurry they rang around the branches and found what I wanted in stock at one of them and it was sent directly from there.
The boat shows do have a big effect on firms sometimes so some patience might be necessary but once the show is over get on the phone. Forget the emails, they are easy to put off untill another day but a customer on the phone has to be dealt with! Always a good idea to get the name of the person you are dealing with IMHO.
'Phone them ?!?!? *splutter* Good God Sir, I'm English ! Couldn't possibly make such a fuss from work. Might upset the horses donchaknow.
I'll pop in to their stand at LIBS tonight and see what they say.
I thought that the order had failed because I didn't get the usual e-mail confirmation of order, but money has been debited from my Card and "My Account" page when I log in to their site shows the goods listed under Recent Orders.
Probably just an admin c0ck up. Have dealt with them before and had no probs.
I just automatically worry these days. Seems like chandlers are going out of business on a daily basis.
Odered SWMBO's birthday present on Tuesday night via the internet and it arrived in the post this morning. They even rung me up to query an item that they didn't have in stock.
" That's why we want to press home even more our motto: "We save – You save" and why we won't be meeting our friends at the London Boat Show. We believe that the money we will save there should be put towards better prices for all of you! "
extract from the compass newsletter of 9/1/07. so that`s no excuse then /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
fwiw i had some doubts about an order early last year and my e mails were apparently ignored but it all came out right in the end. hope it does for you as well.

Know what you mean... When I was after a new spinnaker last year I ended up buying a new kitchen to keep her quite. looks like a new carpet if i want a new mainsail /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I personally dont use them as nearly all their prices are full retail.
But what really annoyed me was the debiting of the card with the order and not when the goods are shipped (like everyone else who are sensible about this) and then waiting three weeks!! for delivery and emails not answered.
Have used the Burnham branch since it opened always had excellent service. Went and bought 2 water tanks Tuesday and extra occasional staff were on due to the boatshow.
The third tank I needed was not in stock, got a phone call today and its ready for me to collect.
Cant get better than that.
I was in the shop around the 18th December and the whole shop was packed into cardboard boxes ready to go to London. A real pain as we were there to spend money and walked out with nothing.
I don't think you will get any help until February, from any of the chandlers showing at Excel.
I don't want to stick up for mailspeed as I was livid when I left, but I also imagine that excel probably covers the wage bills for the year.
