After a glorious sail back from Cherbourg during a short break in August we dropped the anchor in Studland Bay rather than going into our berth in the Parkstone YC Haven. It was midweek so the anchorage was relatively empty of boats. As the evening set in the sea was glassy smooth with only the faintest of breezes. Sat in the cockpit, whisky in hand, marvelling at a glorious sunset and the way the white chalk cliffs of Handfast Point caught the pink glow of the setting sun. (Lyrical or what) One of those marvelous, almost magic moments that stays in the memory and one of those moments that could only be experienced from the back of a boat. Also one of those moments that makes you forget about mooring fees, cost of ownership, bad behaviour, crowded marinas, Sunsail corporate regattas, thoughtless powerboat drivers etc etc.
