I have to agree with Saintlysimon, and I see how someone could take the post as rude and a bit offensive. Nothing wrong with a bit of ribbing or the topic in general, but by quoting the actions of one person as being mad (title) and a fool (April Fools Day comment), you would have succeeded in p*ssing most people off.
I bought one of my present boats (Activ 705) without viewing it. Nothing wrong with that. Not hardly my dream boat, but it was a great price and a really nice boat. You can do a lot of research online (as I did) and my personal circumstances meant that it was not easy for me to travel up to look at it. I contacted a local surveyor to look over it, and I am sure that I will sell it sometime in the not too distant future and have NO DOUBT that with the deal I negotiated I will have a few seasons of fun boating and then get all/most of my money back on it.
I was contacted by someone on RHIBS who said that they were a week from buying my boat and I am pretty sure if I had waited I would have lost the deal. Sure there are other boats, and given a choice I would always want to look first, but sometimes things are not possible.

Excellent, and good luck with that. Do let us know how much profit you make. Presumably you will sell it to someone else who doesn't want to see it before they buy it?

It was a moment of madness I'm sure. I bought a Landrover Disco on a whim once. Still have it. Nobody stupid enough to buy it off me. Local authorised dealer just loves me. Even get Christmas cards off the bastid.

Buying a boat unseen without even stepping on board a sister boat is a bit mad. But lots of us do mad things and like Superheat I mean no malice by this. I think some on here burn £10k of fuel in a weekend, they're mad too but I've no doubt they'd be the first to admit it!

Well, fwiw my wooden old tub could cruise 24/24 for two weeks, and still have some of those 10k worth of fuel in her tanks...
