A couple of weeks ago we enjoyed an excellent cruise in company with forumite Illusion and his swmbo. Illusion has a shiny new Targa 44 based in Swanwick, and we have a Targa 40 based in Brighton. We met up in Weymouth, and after a couple of days in the marina there, and then a night on the town quay, a brief respite from the wind allowed us to make a dawn trip round Portland Bill and across Lyme Bay, heading for Dartmouth.

As we were approaching the western side of the bay, my sharp-eyed swmbo spotted some dolphins at play, and we managed to get some (rather shaky) video of them. It was a bit of a grey day! It's a shame the quality has ended up being so poor on youtube, this was actually videoed in HD but a lot seems to get lost in the process of glueing the clips together in movie maker; it also seems to have forced it to 4:3:

After this highlight, we continued to Dartmouth, had a few days on a buoy in the river for the regatta, Red Arrows et al, then on to Guernsey, and finally back to our respective homes. Bit lumpy in the Alderney race, but apart from that, a really great trip - made hugely more enjoyable by the excellent company of Illusion.

Cheers

Great video, and just when you needed them too.........bit of a grey day, long crossing, and you get such a spectacular show to break it up :)

Thanks Jimmy,

We both thoroughly enjoyed your company as well and would love to do it again some time.
The video looks great, but I can’t get over what a horrible morning it looks…..I’m sure it wasn’t that bad?? Mind you we did set off at 6am.
We have loads of photos, that I must get round to putting up on the forum at some point.
In the end we reckon the total trip added 19 engine hours and just over 300 nm to the log, obviously a little more for you guys with you being further East at Brighton.
Not bad when you consider we had to pick our way with the weather that week.

Breeze is all now sorted following the water pump incident at the weekend. Very pleased with the attitude and speed of service from RK Marine for this warranty job.

Hope all went well today?

Hi P,

Jimmy's swmbo here. All gone to plan today thanks. He's still in the hospital but a bit dopey. They should let him out tomorrow night when he's looking forward to a load of cheese!

Hopefully see you soon.

H

Eek hospital. Hope he is ok H. Please pass on my beSt wishes. That's quite enough of hospitals for this year

Hi JTB, we're based in Dartmouth on a trot mooring just off Darthaven marina. I guess you were part of the large raft of mobos just downriver of the Rez Nova? Thank goodness the weather finally improved for regatta and has stayed good almost every day since then.
If you're in the Dart again come over and have a drink, we're usually around.

Hi LJS

We were in a raft of two, that grew to four, then six, and finally briefly seven boats as we progressed through the week towards the red arrows, on KA20 - just immediately NE of the rubbish barge N of the Res.

Thanks for the invite, we love coming to Dartmouth and we'll definitely be back - look forward to meeting up.

Cheers
Jimmy

Glad to hear it. We headed it east but it was slow going so we diverted to gosport for the night; had a lumpy run back to Bton - displacement the whole way.

Cheers
