Does any one know if this pump has a built in pressure guage
and is this suited for a Quicksilver with Inflatble Keel and floor
Any recommendations for the best and cheapest supplier

Thanks

I have an LVM and a quicksilver 270 AD, the LVM is suitable for the tubes and keel , it does not have the pressure to inflate the floor to the required 12psi. I usualy inflate the tubes with the LVM as far as it will take them then the floor to 12 psi with the stirrup pump then inflate the keel and top off the tubes to 3.5 to 4 psi with a couple of strokes from the stirrup pump.

I will get shot down for this ...

I paid about a fiver for an inflator that has 12v cable and croc clips ... just needs a few strokes of the foot pump to finish it of.

I also have a rechargeable at about 10 quid ... same just a few strokes of foot pump to finish off ...

Excellent tools and at the price - I can afford quite a few before I reach LVM price ...

Re: I will get shot down for this ...

I have seen them in markets, camping shops etc. They are sold to inflate Airbeds, Lilos, Inflatable boats etc.

I have a 12v croc clip job on the boat and same out here + the rechargeable one. My original Recharge one failed on the battery through lack of use and replacement 6v Gelcel (standard type as used in small alarm systems etc. - available at Maplins etc. ) was more expensive than buying a complete air-pump again !!!

Anyway here is my one out here :

In answer to Denny and other skeptics ..... it inflates my Avon Redstart in just under 5 mins. Not fast - but not slow. It DEFLATES simply by making the connection to intake instead of exit ... (in effect - turning pump around). It deflates excellently. It's asked as if LVM is the ONLY air-pump that does it ... in fact I haven't seen an electric or foot one that doesn't do both inflate and deflate ! Even the cheap lilo jobs out of beach shops.

Repeat ... 12v croc clip ones are about 5 quid .... rechargeable one about 10 quid ...

I don't say quality is high - I dont say LVM is not ... what I do say is I can buy quite a number of these before I hit LVM's price ... and I've had mine for over 5 years ... still working fine ... In fact I shall be using one at Yarmouth in May at the BBQ ....

Not skeptical - I just wanted to know!
I find the LVM fast and effective but it's very, very noisy! If it ever dies I like the sound of the rechargeable one - save all that cable and croc clips business.

They are all noisy !!!

One of mine sounds like a Banshee wailing her head off ... but it works !!
The one in pictures is actually quite quiet compared .....

I wasn't really getting at you about the "deflating" bit - but know that others will read the posts and there are a couple on the forums who have poured scorn on these cheap Chinese jobs ... One particular time they made it out that LVM was the ONLY air-pump to deflate and also only one that could pump up a dinghy to final pressure. I suspect that really they do not have an electric one and were just reading web-blurb. I have often just used the air-pump and nothing else ... accepting the slightly under-inflated dinghy for that quick nip ashore ... it's only when you sit on the sides that you notice the lack of last few foot-pump strokes.

Where to find these pumps .... supermarkets - especially the bigger Hyper style, DIY, Camping shops etc.

My opinion is that if it does half the work for a fiver - it's better deal than 60 quid for an LVM ... second you should always carry the foot-pump anyway .... just in case. I know many don't - but thats asking for trouble. A simple bag tied to one of the straps will look after it ...

my lvm which i bought from a second hand shop died after i owned it for 3 years so i phoned lvm up and asked how much to repair the turbine and they just sent me a new unit free of charge !
