i have my OB / boat on a trailer

so the rams / seals are dry when i move the engine up / down whilst ashore
worth lubing them if rams moved ashore ?

does lubricating them do any harm / collect dirt ?

tnx

Can you not leave it in the down position so as to protect the rams?
if in the water i'd leave them up all the way as that will pull them out of the water all together, as its an outboard

i lubed the rams, lightly, whilst ashore as they are exposed with the engine down
but i can now see the issue with dirt being collected over time
likley best not to lube them and not to move them whilst ashore

tnx for your thoughts
