Lowrance GPS

I am just installing a Lowrance 3300c plotter.

The antenna has a short ( about 15 cm) wire and plug. A separate connecting wire is provided fom unit to the antenna, terminated in a plug.

Question: Can the plugs be snipped off and wires soldered together or is it critical (ignore gurantees etc). I ask this as I want to feed the wires up a stainless tube on my RIB and the plugs are too big for the tube.

I patched a length of cable into the transducer cable on the same model. Well, I got a place in Cowes to do it... Greenham's, or something like that?, as I wanted it done right. As long its done properly there shouldn't be a problem.

would also recomend a pro do it, but would look first for a connector that can do the job without cutting.
