Low battery warning on auto pilot

Now I think I know what it is I have decided on an upgrade. The autopilot brains, head and giro are the only instruments never to have been upgraded and lag behind the rest of the system. The fix is only supposed to be a temporary one and we intend to carry on sailing for many years yet. Athough the fix may be fine for a long time I would prefer something I could rely on and possible fix it as a back up.
As we are in Turkey and the VAT rate is lower and I managed to haggle a deal as cheap as anything I found online I have decided to bite the bullet and upgrade. It is expensive but for us living aboard and using it all the time it makes sense. They can also fit it with a 2 yr guarantee tomorrow.
Thank you for everyone who helped and contributed to this thread as it helped me learn more and now I know exactly where all my auto pilot cable is and more about how it works.

I try to get the linked file "Autohelm 100 Low Voltage Fault resolve.pdf" but it seems not possible to download from dropbox any more, does anyone still have it? Has anyone attempted this repair or diagnosed their unit that this was the problem?

Downloaded for me OK still, maybe you need to have a dropbox account. The fix is for the old 100 course computer.
