Low Amp Tv's?

I have two 'Cello' 12v TV's, one 16" and another 22". You can buy them online from scotland in a huge range of sizes and specs, with or without DVD, HDMI, scart RF DVB-S2 USB etc. and the price is really good. Inverters are fine buy really up your 12v consumption.

12v Tellys dont stop when the shorepower credit runs out either!

How much power does an inverter use?

You'd need to check the specs. for the inverter to get a better idea as they vary and you could end up wasting anywhere between 10% - 50%. Avoid a tiny drain from a large inverter or efficiency will be poor.

A guess would be 80% efficiency as long as you are using a fair bit of the inverter's capacity. i.e. Not running a 35W TV from a 2kW inverter. So I'd guess that a 35W TV running via a 150W inverter would draw around 3.5A (approx. 0.7A wasted).

The plot thickens.
Ok, so now I've got a good starting point.

Although mains powered led backlit Tv use tiny amounts of power, i.e. about 1 amp for a 18' flat screen, the inverter will bump that up by another 20%....,

I need to research led Tv's that work directly off 12 volts.......iirc led's don't work on 12 volts, so will need to reduce the voltage to the correct voltage for the IC chip.......Yet more power loss or not?

There was an earlier reference to the Kogan TVs. I have a 22" which is a 12v DC tele. It has PVR and a DVD. It is light and very thin. Meets my requirements!
