100% agreed. Very professionally made products nowadays - the joys of CAD.We also got distracted by the electric surfboard stands. We first got interested at Southampton with a company called Jet Surf. The products seem to have really come on in recent years from clunky garage built things to really well designed leisure products. I’m assuming you went electric? One of the manufacturers was claiming 2.5 hour run time once you got over the initial energy draining constantly falling in phase.
I will have to admit our Solent base makes water sports a lot less desirable. Were we in Thailand I’d have one on the boat tomorrow.
Master your skills before using in a busy anchorage. You want to look good in front of an audience
No worries about looking good - it's for children of guests. The Generation A folks like me might try it in the dark
Yes re the Solent. As you know from our many chats on here over the years, I can't for the life of me get my head around why your beautiful boat isn't in the Med, Henri. 90 minute flights all day long, and you live about 3 minutes from Heathrow! You don't even have the kids-in-school thing anymore - E is all grown up and would love trips to the Med in dad's Cessna

Henry, I will make jfm’s point for him…I don’t know what the Solent looks like the day after Storm Isha …but this is what the Med looked like at 5pm today..,100% agreed. Very professionally made products nowadays - the joys of CAD.

Hey, it's one of those things that once I got over the shock of Med pricing I'd fall in love. My heart is to help encourage the Thai boating ideal. Some incredible experiences to be had at UK prices or less. Of course I totally understand the distances are prohibitive to a spur of the moment decision. I would argue all year round boating though for the most part, certainly in the Phuket / Krabi area. One day I'll take the plunge.
Those flight boards look so cool and surely it can't be beyond the realms of possibility for mature owners to master them. Can't decide whether hydro boards or in water boards are best. The Hydro certainly turn heads. There's one that knocks about in Southampton water / the river Itchen.
If you end up doing something with the training let me know. I definitely be up for taking a place for S. The 6 day full day skipper course split 2 or 3 ways doesn't look out of the way and I can make sure the boat is on hand to provide accommodation maybe on the Island ?

I have taken the plunge and gone for an "awake vinga 3". efoiling isnt too difficult and got the basic hang of it within 15 mins when I hired one for an hour (shared between 4). The vinga foiling wings are detachable as well so stores easily in tender garage.

She’s not feeding them...but they are feeding...the fish are about eight to ten inches in length...but the water is only about three inches deep, so they are not fully submerged...only their faces

Yup the chipmunk was fine once we cleaned out the carb and WD40ed the distributor cap. Actually it was the Canadian competitor product, not an actual chipmunk, so not as good but same kinda thing.
On boards, it seems everyone wants foiling, which is why I didn't even bother with the convertible product that Elessar has a picture of above. That one was €5k more and had lots of screws.
Gotta say, not seeing much enthusiasm at this end for solent training and the distraction of tides/rain, but will let you know how that thinking develops...
Med/Thailand not mutually exclusive. Med now with the 55er and 90 minute flights, then Thailand later when Sytner give you £100m for the business and you get the x-80/Horizon 90 or whatever

Yup. Perhaps I'm being a touch harsh here but 'Vegan Leather' to me is just (posher) vinyl. Much like during Delboy's yuppy phase on Only Fools and Horses where Mike sells some beef stew to Trigger for £1 and then charges the 'Yuppies' £3.50 for Boeuf Bourguignon and it was the same thing. Call it a fancy name and people will pay for something that (maybe) is a bit rubbish.
