Looking for second hand cruising chute. Is the problem with Exchange Sails just bad organisation? They are not far away so could inspect. Any other reliable sources?

My problem with them, some years ago, was the sails they sent bore no resemblance to those described to me over the phone. Fortunately I paid by credit card, and so got my money back from them. If you can go and look at them, pay, and take them away you should be fine.

Would it not be worth giving the dimensions that you need .
Or at least tell us what boat it is for.

Do a little Google research and you'll see that's an outfit to avoid at all costs. I was myself grossly cheated by them, more than 10 years ago, and was horrified to learn that they had done the same with dozens of other sailors.
Their modus operandi was then, and I supposed it still is, to sell you non-existent sails, maybe sails invented on the spot to meet your requirements, then after a long delay send something completely different and unsuitable. Then if you get a refund at all, it's only after months of hassle, not to mention all the shipping. Bleh.

Of what they did to me. Take several sails on a commission sale basis. Over twenty years later there’s no money come my way and the sails disappeared a long time ago

Post 4 is my answer too.
If and when I find them I have some excellent sails in mint condition to sell; but don’t hold your breath because I cannot find half of what I know I have.
When I sell a boat, I take off things that I think are more valuable as separate items and put them in storage; that means I have a huge collection of items in mint condition that I really should have sold years ago.
E.g I know I have one brand new tiller pilot found in a box on a boat. Another tiller pilot in excellent condition that I bought as a backup and never used.
When flush I bought kit that I thought I might use one day.
Having scaled down I now realise I have simply cluttered up (with really good kit) that is stored so well I cannot find it under piles of other stuff.
My collecting habit has not gone down well, as tidy sensible people (and / or wives) could possibly relate to.

Exchange Sails (Westaway Sails) same people ..... I had a replacement genny from them and it was better than I expected. Dimensions etc were all exactly as the sail excel listing stated.
Fair price - shipping and delivery to me in Latvia was quick and efficient.
Communication was good ... no complaints at all.
I would be happy to buy from them again.

I visited once and it was a waste of time. The sails were all stored in a lump, in a loft, not catalogued. Nobody knew what was what and did not seem to particularly care. The name is so poor that if they wanted to run a successful business they would re-name it and start again.

Regarding Westaway, they wouldn’t be on my list if I was buying new sails, but our new boat has Westaway furling main and Genoa dating from 2017 and they seem fine apart from the Genoa needing new UV strip

I bought a Genoa off exchange sails. It took ages to come. I had lots and lots of phone calls to them. Eventually they sent a Genoa which was not the one I paid for. I sent it back at their cost and did eventually receive the sail I had bought. The whole experience was very stressful and I would never use them again. The sail I bought was a good sail at a fair price. But the whole experience was no fun at all

I have a different (yet thematically similar) Westaways experience. When I was young and stupid, I ordered a used, cheap, spi from them. They ended up sending me a brand new one by mistake.

There are a number of Facebook groups called things like “used sails for sale” or similar which frequently have suitable sails on. I bought a kite from someone on there a couple of years back.
