If you buy them all, the savings
would just about pay for the entrance ticket. Truly bargains...

I looked again...hopefully a printing error.....

Happy days when I bought an autopilot a plotter and something else bulky and heavy which were so cheap...(like half price) I had to buy them, even though I had to lug them around all day and then back home via 4 trains a ferry and many pubs...

Off on Friday with my free ticket -assuming I don’t want a new boat as I’m not really old enough to want a Nimbus or Trawler just yet and a new oyster etc over budget don’t really wanted larger I just wonder what might worth looking at ? Davits? I am interested in something simple though, A small portable generator to annoy my neighbours , some safety devices such as plb etc? Solar panels maybe but can I justify the price? Water makers and genset not really on my wish list for our current plans and likewise hydrovane. What do others look to view? I did find it helpful to view small outboards on a prior visit so that sort of thing really is my market I think.

My boat was the “try a boat” on the RYA stand a few years back. I could go to the show by boat every day and I bought a new life raft which they were surprised to deliver to a boat!

The days of bargains to lug home from the show have largely gone sadly. May be lucky…..,

What was the boat? My brother ended up being the face of the RYA on the bow of the try a boat for several years after we took part. It was weird seeing him (and us on the flybridge) on posters and pamphlets every time an event happened!

A lot of years ago, when the water area off Mayflower Park - site of the Boat Show - still had a small forest of standing wooden piles, I brought a 40' catamaran round from The Hamble and parked it, moored, within the piles...... then went ashore in the dinghy to the Boat Show.

My mate and I were even able to get a 'pass out' from the amused security guys to go to the nearby pub - they'd had no instructions!

That wheeze didn't last long....!

It was was Sealine 390 called Evenstar 4. Hull number 2 of the design that became the F43.
And yes they keep the stock photos I’ve found myself in the RYA nag a few times without notice!

I don't think 'Bargains' exist any more. We went to the NEC 'Boat Show' last year and was in the market for an AIS transponder, sadly there was only one seller of said units at the show so no bargain to be had :-(

In general, I'm tempted to agree. However.....

...today, I found a 'teak furniture' exhibitor selling floating winch handles at £20 and £22 ( 8"/10" ) which is well less than half the price of a near 'other'. Some well-known makes were up to 5 times that price.

Would need to go to Boat Scrapyard to better that!

Yes, I bought a couple. As one does.... ;)

There seemed a distinct lack of clothes and clothes/shoe stands today-I saw the seago stand but that seemed about it. One good offer seem the cool box for around£315 for the small version .seems it uses less power than other makes I’m told. I enjoyed good hospitality at boatfolk stand . My only gripe is it seems to take for ever from entrance to reach the shoreside stands and the marina but clearly if it were busy helps crowd control and I guess footfall through exhibitors areas.
