Hi everyone,
As you may have seen from my previous posts, I lost my mast between Milford Haven and Arklow (now my home port). After taking some time to repair the damage, I’m now looking for a replacement mast.
It’s for a Westerly Centaur, with approximate dimensions of about 9.8–10.5 m in length (around 32–34 ft), masthead rig, with a standard aluminium section.
I know there are shipbreakers in England with old Westerlys, but transport costs would be more than I can reasonably afford at the moment (PhD student budget…). So I’m hoping to find something in eastern or southern Ireland.
Does anyone know of any boat breakers or yards in Ireland that might have old masts, or places where Westerlys have been scrapped? If anyone has gone through replacing one themselves, I’d really appreciate hearing how you approached it.
