Looking for a new marina in Hampshire or West Sussex- any ideas?

I may be misreading this but can I just make it clear that berthholders have access at Birdham Pool at all times. The only restriction is for boats because the lock is (obviously) tidal. We kept our first and second boat at Birdham and liked it.

We had a wander round there earlier this year, it struck me that it didn't look very secure (from the point of view of landward access by 'visitors').

I see what you mean. It is the restrictive boat access that really puts me off. I have been there a few time by road and love the place. Trouble is I like to take th eboat out (and back) when I please irrespective of tide and lock staffing hours. But, I have to admit, it is very picturesque indeed.

You will find if you want all states access ,on mainland and easy road access based on Solent with what might be termed full service marina without a tidal rip and no lock or sill the choice reduces considerably. I quite like Chi marina if I had plenty of time or somewhere scenic like Beaulieu but I think you just need to visit a few by land to check out really.

I have defined my requirrment, with the help of the forum actually, made a short list and am gearing up for visits. Should be able to get to Southsea by water next week.
many thanks.
Best of luck Terry. Southsea is also tidally limited so you might not like that (cill, not a lock). Superb Indian restaurant on site, hope that's not been a covid victim!

You have to be in Chi or east of Emsworth at least to dine out from the weekend. I’m just awaiting the Sussex police to start checking out all those Hampshire drivers from southsea
