PS You could also try Bob and Sue Pike, Secondhand book sellers who specialise in Yachting at 01225 311710
Not sure this is their current no, if not let me know and I can get it for you cause my parents know them.

But is Peter Hamilton Alistair Hamilton?
Was trying to work this out!
He seems to be called different things in different places, but seems to be the same book!

I think he is Peter Alistair Hamilton - but you have a point! He does seem to change his Christian name depending on which edition.

Yes, the late Peter Hamilton and AG Hamilton are one and the same (my ex-wife's uncle). Always known as Peter in the family. Great character - wonderful book.

Re: Looking for a copy of \"The restless wind\" - Book

Just finished reading it and it was a pleasant change from the normal "sell-up-and-sail" book as it actually read as a story as opposed to a log-book.

The book is essentially a story of finding true love; but you happen to be on a vertue at the same time. Wife to be becomes crew after a while and they both happily sail the South Seas together. I found it a frank and very rewarding read of what was clearly a very successful cruise - and how it can be done on a very meagre budget with few mod-cons. I particularly liked the jib repair using a skirt!

All in all a very much recommended read if you like this ilk of book, as it approaches an extended cruise from a wider angle than just that of seamanship as there is a very human side to it too.

Glad you found a copy: I agree about the tale - I wish he had written more. Peter and Jill remained married all his life - he died a few years ago. They had three great children, though sadly one daughter died prematurely of cancer, and I forget how many grandchildren. Their son is another great seaman, and a similarly intrepid character.

Dear members
I am looking for a copy of The Restless Wind. Curious about the book as I know the author's son.
Abebooks 32-50 pound + mail.... where is the 50 pence edition?
Anyone wants to sell for a reasonable price?

Peter Alistair Hamilton is the author of The restless winds.
Published in the VS 1963 but I think, also in England.
