So I am from London originally (55 years ago!) but managed to escape for 20 years to Edinburgh where I owned a Parker 275 and raced a bit on that and 707s.
Unfortunately divorce meant the sale of the Parker and new wife (great) meant a move to London (terrible!).
Anyway I think I will be in Woolwich or Canary Wharf for five years. I posted a while ago on the other forum and some nice people posted about Greenwich yacht club and Millwall Dock for dinghy sailing. However i would really like to keep my cruising skills such as they are up to date so that in my next life i can sail the Caribbean or the Mediterranean!
So seeing as i am skint i am interested in any experience in the Medway or Suffolk on a small boat to stay over at the weekend and possibly across to the Netherlands. There’s a westerly regatta 260 for sale in Ipswich. Will I make it across the channel without dying?! (I have a piece of paper that says I am a costal skipper and have sailed western Scotland to st Kilda on my mates boat)
I am suffering from a bit of a lack of confidence so any boat or mooring options to practice a bit for the next five years would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Rob
