London Boat Show

Not paying that much to park again. Call me grumpy, but I liked the old park and ride, didn't mind paying a fiver.
At least the organisers have scaled back their charges (probably still calculating it on a per square foot basis though) as it is a tenner with special offers.
So, no go this year, still wondering whether or not to do Dusseldorf.

Hello grumpy :D
Dusseldorf may well work out cheaper though, it would cost me £500 to go within the M25 boundary so I'll be keeping clear of that there London for a long, long time now

Use a car instead of a commercial vehicle and u be fine or get the train  :D

Where's that sticky out tongue smiley when you need it ? :p
First motor is a 4X4 needed for work, so I'll buy another motor just to avoid taxes, don't think so :D
Dusseldorf is nice anyway, at least it was the last time I was there :o

We could meet at the PBO stand at say 12:30ish.
Warning - I will have Tim with me

anyway, back to the point.

We'd like to meet up with Clive and Nigel and any other nice persons as per Clive's note above. See you on Sunday.

I want to look at/investigate:

  • rigging tensioner gadget thingy
  • paints for painting grp deck
  • people selling second-hand boats
  • solar panel
  • battery powered nav lights - if such exist

Hmm... Duesseldrof is only two and half hours on the train.... sounds like a German forum meet up could be possible.

sorry if I'm stating the bleeding obvious, but no matter what way I massage the figures it's still going to cost me more than a fiver in petrol and ten quid to park! Shame, have never been to Dusseldorf.

I'll be going on Wednesday, entrance cost £10 and free travel courtesey of Oyster 60+ card. Will be looking at Beta engine spares to suit new one just installed, which also means window shopping only at other things!!

I must be missing sumat then , I drive a 4x4 everyday and I live / work inside M25 without any probs

But if you have a L/R Defender with a TD5 engine for example then you will get clobbered BUT a Discovery with same engine is ok , go figure

SWMBO and I'll be on the World Cruising Club stand on the first Saturday. Doing our bit to pursuade you all to sail off into the sunset. (anything for a free ticket!)

Not that posh here :o
Put my number into the TFL site and it laughed, said if I go there, they charge me £500 for the pleasure. Well, it's never been a pleasure, so I'll duck the fee by not going there

Well We meet Lisa and family & Friends at the PBO stand as arranged.
We had a good chat and then went off to carry on spending money.

Lisa was looking for a Motorboat

We had some good deals :)

Looked for some new Salopettes
I got some Guy Cotten Jupiter Ocean (As used by the Open 60 boys)
List price £350 I paid £200.

A new Standard Horizon HX300 Hand Held VHF with USB Charging
List £135 - I paid £112.

NASA BM-1 Compact Battery Monitor
List £105 - I paid £90

Also spoke to 2 folding propeller suppliers and found that a new Prop for Sirenia would not be a costly as I had feared.

Free entrance ticket from C-Map.
Parked under the hall near the west end with easy access to take stuff back to the car.

All in all a good day and worth the trip.

Those are the dog's dangly bits. Love them.
You got a good price.
Paid €240 for them at their Concarneau factory outlet store.
These days that works out at £200 - and you didn't have to drive to France for them. ;)

Thanks for that - Makes me even more pleased with the deal.:)

For Roger's benefit.
The show was not too crowded.
Some stands seemed to be happy to do a deal.
We didn't notice much setting for OAP to take a rest on their way round.:p
The food in the centre concourse did not seem as expensive as the last time I visited.

We tend to use the Oyster stand for R&R, canopies & champagne

Arrived at the PBO stand late, shame as was hoping to say hello.
Worth it to research major purchases and was hoping to do a comparison on folding props but how can I if Kiwiprops aren't there? Gori and Bruntons all very lovely but......
And that was the impression, shrinking if I'm kind, dying if not.
I rather prefer Ipswich boat jumble I'm afraid
