That's a good explanation. But I think it's worth factoring in 'attitude'.

Not much good for somebody working in Plymouth!I had thought there was a large liveabord population on the Thames or other inland waterways - I’m sure I’ve seen a variety of boats around Kingston which seem to be used by students etc .
Try contacting Annual Moorings - Cattewater Harbour Commissioners they maybe able to help.Hi there guys, so I'm currently buying my first boat and hope to live aboard full time, I currently live and work in Plymouth, my work is just off sutton quay so i was hoping to find somewhere to berth at sutton harbour but not only is it very expensive but they do not take live aboards, I'm going down to see the boat on saturday but i could really do with some pointers and general help. My parents used to live on their boat in bristol with no issues so why is it so difficult now to do? I'm thinking about a swinging mooring in torpoint and then buying a small tender to get to and from, any advice or help would be really appreciated. Thanks
Johnny
In the UK...doesn't seem to be a problem anywhere else. Wonder why?
Gosport has improved in recent years boasting more supermarkets than you would believe with Morrisons,Aldi and Asda all in walking
To return to the original question…this may be more achievable than “residency”. With Premier’s “extra nights” contract you’re officially allowed to stay for up to 48 weeks. The contract says not more than 12 weeks at a time but in practice this is what they pushed the Brighton liveaboards to, no-one is checking up and a night somewhere else would make it completely legitI'm currently looking for a south coast marina that will allow me and my family to liveaboard over the winter before heading to France in the spring.
Thank god based on how awful they are in Guildford-generally I would go subway or greggs in which Gosport excels -we went to Arties on Friday night which if you are not at Clarence marina is off the beaten track but service was very good -we had a dog so sat on bar stools table but for pizzas and burgers a well run place with a variety of beers including London pride . Even had cotes de Provence rose for those with more refined tastes to beer. If you are in Gosport make you way down Weevil lane and try. Seemed more local clientele than yachtsman . 100% better than the Creek if you are visiting Haslar. It’s a way off having a Gail’s
