Got down to 3 brands in my quest for a single battery - Fogstar (more expensive) Eco-worthy (won't ship to IOW) and Renogy

I've shopped till I dropped and concluding if I'm going to do this I need to do it well so ruling out cheap obscure brands , just wanting a single service battery the best deal I can find on Fogstar is a new Drift 230aH (I asume 'Gen 1') at £420, alternatively more power for less money - a 300aH Renogy at £374 or a 280aH Eco-worthy at £375

Is Fogstar worth a bit more money for a bit less power ??

contact PaulRainbow on the forum I'm sure he will advise something else. He has just completed an upgrade to my electrics which included Lithium for domestics. Very pleased with the whole thing and it all was approved by my insurance company.

Paul has been most helpful through the planning stage, unfortunately he's a million miles away...

A few months ago I got a renogy 200AH with monitor for a princely £240, somewhat against advice from here which recommended spending more on fogstar but for the price I couldn't help myself. Working well so far.

Paul suggested Fogstar to me with Bluetooth. Seems to have been a good buy so have gone for another for other boat. I didn't think Bluetooth would be essential but now think it is.

I Bought my eco-worthy on ebay.fr and got it shipped to the marina.

Oh, and you don't need (or want) heating.

I would go for the Fogstar Drift (not the Eco). Bit more money but better components. LFP is a long term investment, so worth fitting good kit.

I had 4 ecoworthy 12v batteries in a 24v system. They worked very well and I was pleased with them. They had Bluetooth but no heater. I bought them when they were more expensive I think. They needed balancing quite a bit as they were in a series parellel configuration. I couldn’t fault them. However I didn’t like all the extra wire this configuration brings. So I swapped for a Fogstar 24v 280ah gen 2. And I can’t fault it either. Lot less wiring so consequently neater. They have a canbus connection to my cerbo and that works well. Can’t fault the ecoworthy batteries but love this Fogstar.

Fogstar regularly have offers, just recently there was 10% off for a short period. Often coincides with boat shows/ camper van or caravan shows. I brought a stand alone 105a Drift for my camper van and very pleased with it. I would recommend bluetooth connection as it shows battery health via app on phone and useful for checking when stored for the winter. I notice there is a Drift Eco version now with bluetooth connection.

Best Fogstar deal I can see is £404 delivered for 314aH Eco which now includes Bluetooth BMS, I've been offered 10% off a non-Eco Drift 300aH which lists at £600, or a 'Gen 2' 300aH which is £700, quite a chunk more I fear...
I'm thinking it's hard to justify my humble implimentation plan of one battery needing the more expensive option and leaning towards the basic version of a premium battery

How are your diy skills? You can buy just the components from Fogstar and build one yourself for less. Not too difficult to do and plenty of tutorials on YouTube.

I should imagine the budget Fogstar is of much the same quality as Renogy and EcoWorthy batteries. I think Renogy might not have Bluetooth though. EcoWorthy does have Bluetooth.

I confess for the relatively small saving I've shied away from self build... There's currently only £25 difference between the Eco-worthy and the Drift Eco, both with bluetooth and I'm thinking that might be worth potential extra support

The Drift has EVE cells and a JBD Bluetooth BMS. They don't say what's in the Eco models.
Tghat's exactly what I used to build my second battery. The first one used Lishen cells, which had flimsier terminals. Both have behaved flawlessly, the first one has been in use for five years now, full time liveaboard for four of those.

I’d go with Fogstar. To the best of my knowledge they’re a small British company that put the batteries together in-house (anyone confirm this?) so you’ll get better support than you might from EcoWorthy that are (I assume) imported ready made. I only went with the latter as there was a good offer on them at the time.

So the ECO (don't know whos cells) is £404 and the Drift (non Eco) is £540 ? The Drift uses Grade A EVE cells, so might well be worth the extra.
