Hi,

The lining in the aft cabin of our Gib'Sea 76 has started to come away as the backing foam is turning to powder. Does anybody know a "economic" supplier & fitter of linings in the Hamble area.

Thanks

Andy

Contact Hawke House Marine in Fareham for materials and sound advice. Google will find their website. I think they can put you in touch with someone who will do the job for you and there is a regular ad in PBO by someone who does it.

If you decide to do it yourelf do a seach on these forums for information, hints and advice as it has been discussed several times. AND if you do do it yourself get an organic vapours mask (from Hawke House) to protect you from the toluene solvent in the adhesive.

Hi Andy!

Agree re Hawke House Marine for the supply of the stuff (just completed the total re-lining of my boat using their materials) though they are not particularly cheap and there are others.

The chap who has a good reputation, and who was the subject of a recent (I think about 4-5 months ago) article on relining in PBO, is Roger Nantais. He can be contacted on: 01202 849339 (home) 07970 440794 (mobile)

I haven't seen the quality of his work and it might be a good idea for you to have a look at the article first, followed by a look at an actual job or two of his.

There are other contractors doing this sort of work and as the previous post said, Hawke House Marine may be able to suggest alternatives.

Final thought: Roger's 'over the phone' estimate for the work on my boat was way more than I was prepared to spend and I thought expensive, though is probably par for the course. In the end, I took my time, thought everything through about a thousand times for each bit - and did it myself. OK, it took me at least 10 times longer than Roger had indicated, but it's a perfect job, at least according to the surveyor who viewed it a couple of weeks ago. So I'm pretty pleased!!

It's a course you might care to consider yourself.

Either way, I hope everything goes well for you and that the finished product is exactly what you want.

Good sailing!
