Limewire has stopped working all of a sudden. We have been using it to download music,mainly..and up till now has been no prob. It seems to take a long time searching for the required music file, with no result. I have tried turning off the firewall but this does not make any difference. Any help appreciated (Brendan??)

James, if you put your cursor over the 'signal strength' icon in bottom left, does it say you are currently connecting to the network? This happens sometimes with p2p software.

Have a look through this faq
http://www.limewire.org/wiki/index.php?title=User_Cant_Connect
and check that nothing is blocking the connection.

Otherwise, remove limewire completely, through COntrol Panel./ Add remove programs.

Then turn off computer and turn off router, and restart them both.
Download and reinstall Limewire again, following the prompts to enable firewall permissions etc, and see if this makes a difference

If you have windows XP have you tried System Restore to a time when it was working?
Find it under Start/help and support.

Who is your ISP? Some providers block commonly used p2p ports, especially at peak times. Do a Google search (limewire, ports, blocking, <your isp's name>) to see if there is a known problem. Tiscali routinely block ports at peak times for Limewire, and seem to block all torrent traffic completely.
Sorry, should say 'Re: jamesmar' at the top!)

Oh great . Just when I'm getting used to LW something better turns up . Any idea if my saved music can be transferred ? so I don't need to keep double checking for duplicates
