I didn't until getting a dyneema main halyard- now very tempted at times. SAying that, you know you're having a good season when you can't make a fist because the callouses are so thick.

Nor me, strictly for the girlies. Unless it's a bit cold, or there's likely to be any of that horrible salt water flying about, or I'm cleaning the bog, or touching that nasty dirty anchor chain. Other than that I wouldn't be seen in them!

£3.50 builders leather gloves, and if it's cold, one of 5 pairs of Musto liners which I stiill (inexplicably) have from one of about 5 pairs of their excellent gloves - all of which I have lost. Can't race without gloves imo.

my opinion is complete rubbish, probably.

I do, I'm a right wuss. Not only do I wear gloves to protect my lillywhites, I don't like it when they get all cold and wet either, so I take along a few extra pairs so I can put on dry ones when my pinkies have gone blue. Soft or what?

One day, I want to be a real sailor. In the mean time I'll just keep tri-ing.

I use 'He-Man' mittens for those chilly times in the early hours, they're useless at gripping anything though.

I dont after one got 'nipped' in a winch and gave me a fright. Suppose my finger would have got 'nipped' too. But dont like it when they get wet, so dont bother.

I do if it's windy because it's that or skin removal which hurts but my post is irrelevent if 'how many of us' means 'us men'

I’ve got three pairs onboard:
Leather gardening gloves for dirty jobs
Ski mitts from the charity shop for when it’s cold
Neoprene diving gloves for when it’s cold and wet.

Have a pair of sealskinz for out of season (like this July) - not desperately warm, but reasonable waterproof. I've worn them twice so far in a year.

Also have a pair of open fingered sailing gloves which I don't usually wear for cruising, but was VERY glad to have crewing on the RTI.

Ok so I'm a wuss, but for every day sailing I have to spend a week slaving over a hot computer to pay for it!
