This website may be of interest to any lighthouse fanciers on here. I have no connection to the author other than I found her very helpful in providing me with images of an ancient ruined house that I have an interest in which is near one of the lighthouses that she had photographed.

For anyone with an interest in lighthouses, There was a really good to show on Irish TV last winter called Great Lighthouses of Ireland. It was commissioned by the Commissioners for Irish Lights.
Here’s a link to the RTE Player but it may be limited by location RTÉ Player

Or here’s a link to a YouTube video

Well-founded rumour has it that HRH Princess Anne has a comprehensive knowledge of British lighthouses, and especially those in Caledonia.

There was also forumite with a smart mobo beginning with E, who also is very clued up on their history, though I believe he now sails across the pond.

How many of these have been switched off. And what would a map showing the disused one look like?
Interestingly you might need a definition of “switched off”. One beautiful lighthouse near us is crumbling into disrepair. There is still a light. But a few decades back the lighthouse with rotating lens was replaced by a metal pole with an LED bulb and simple flashing sequence. Not quite the romance or drama, but presumably massively cheaper to run.
