Lewmar 16 ST

A friend needs a Lewmar 16 ST winch drum (circa 95 model), he ordered a new drum, but the model has changed, so the drum "don,t fit", anyone have one, or any ideas where one might be got! Any ideas gratefully recieved. Thanks Bill.

Try reposting, or "bumping" when they all get back to "work" round about 2nd or 3rd of Jan.

FWIW I would try contacting Lewmar directly.

The bigger boat jumbles usually have someone selling winches. I got a pair at about half RRP.

Thanks for that Vic and Snow Leopard, I will try Lewmar direct and try to find a contact for one of the jumbly chaps, I bought 7 lovely Meisners from a jumble for my R 44 years ago!

Have you thought about re-furbishing the old drum? I had a 43 ST drum re-furbished where the previous owner had completely neglected maintenance and lubrication, the inside bearing surfaces were heavily scored and generally knackered. Local enginerring company milled out inside of drum and then fitted a brass sleve to correct dimensions---great job and a fraction of the price of a new drum. If you are picky about appearance you can also get them re-chromed.

The problem is the teeth on the drum (alloy), have been stripped, but it may be worth a try as a last ditch! Many Thanks. Bill.
