Nope, that photo was the week before. Last Friday (or thur ) I heard on the VHF that they locked down the main port of st tropez? No boats allowed in and none we were allowed to leave either. Must have been bad for that tO happen

Yes, it was a "Bit Lumpy".

This is a Fairline Targa 50 that got locked out of St Trop after weathering this from the West --- and it was another Targa 50 owner and not my boat.

Not sure about the boat (which he said was brilliant in the conditions); but the skipper and crew were brave!

but did he have to turn back into it when St Tropez said no room in the inn? Nasty.

I have been out in that weather in my semi displacement in the Irish Sea when all fast craft were cancelled - delivery trip bringing my boat to meet a truck which was waiting! If I didnt have my friend who has 10 years experience of rough weather voyages in his Princess 38, i would never have chosen to go ahead. knees where shaking!
 
Yes .. it was a following sea .. ( not that my cajones could have coped) ... and allegedly F8/9 . He did not have to head back out as he managed to pull one in Grimaud with well-connected mates.

He was grateful but thought little of Pt Grimaud.

His crew (1) are selling their story if Hugo is interested !

apparently the sidewalks were permanently awash ... but no hiccups ( apart from the single crew!)
 
Can you Med boys tell the truth. Is it actually like that ALL the time down there????

I've figured it out, you have just been posting photos of the Caribbean All this time!

No, just occasionally when low pressure blows in or a Mistral from the W .
But as said you can put it on the stern an " surf" home.
Real prob is berthing in a blow , getting in / out of your place at slow speed,
But most Capitaneries will send if requested a couple of lads with Ribs to help
Remember it's warm water .
Last few days in A this year it blew up .I was there.
St Trop bay is particular windy it funnels down .

Alchemy, I have a berth in Port Grimaud this year and it has its positives and negatives. On the plus side its a lovely setting,usually quite sheltered and you step off your boat into an Italian(in my case) restaurant. It is expensive however and is a bit like driving an artic in and out of a housing estste with tenders,electric tourist boats and ferries all trying to make life harder than it should be!
Best advice I can give is to get down there and ask around as the locals have a way of doing things which they keep to themselves but its very effective. I found OMV in Grimaud a great help so pop in and see them as a start.They can fill you in on all your options trailer/stack/mooring and keep you right on the politics as the security staff in port grimaud are ,literaly,a law unto themselves!
