Further to this, I am about to make some legs for a Stag (28ft with long shallow keel). Rather than drilling holes in the topsides, I'm wondering about lashing the legs to the centre cleats on the toerail, and using the normal fore and aft lines from the foot of the leg. What views? Is it likely to be strong enough? I don't know what sort of forces are involved.
