I'm planning on going to Sicily this summer and have heard that for a flat fee you can have unlimited access to the network of Lega Navale marinas. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Hi,
Lega Navale is a very loosly coordinated network of separate local chapters, some of whom might have sea resorts which are for the use of the local and specific member (that is, a Lega Navale member of Genoa has in principle no specific right to use the resorts of, say, Palermo; of course the asociation is a benevolent one, so it is possible that a member from Genoa will be acceptet as a temporary guest in Palermo and allowed toi use the infrastructures. Beware thogh that most sea bases are for trailer camper boating or small draft cruisers.
Best thing ist to check at the following site: www.leganavale.it /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Probably not - as far as I know you can join as a temporary member, but only accepted in the one you've joined.
They're usually very crowded (understandably because they're cheap) and vary wildly in facilities (many are just a few rickety pontoons in the harbour corner).
If your boat is less than 6m long and draws no more than 1m you might get into some of them - but they're certainly not very welcoming to visiting yachties.
I dont think you need to join,i agree not all are welcoming, but if there are several members about at least half will be helpful and you will have a place for a night of two,and if its a weekend perhaps join the bar b que.
The main draw back is that there may not be any free space partucularly at the weekend summer times also the most have places up to 1 meter depth and about 8 meters long and indeed along a very narrow rikerty walkway!
Or often none at all you will need a dingy, But by joining you will get a list,of places.
