Strange, we went through on the 14th and 22nd and it was opening on the hour. We had nine boats on a club flot and went through on the hour at 12, 1, 2 and 4. As to it being a ferry I don't know as I have never seen it before. It was a floating pontoon that swung to one side.

I did it in an ambulance at full pelt on the way to Arta..That was enough to make you ill.

Must be very recent. I went through on 23rd (4 days ago) at 1pm, still the same old "Santa Maura" then. That old wreck is part of the ambience.

Well it's not the same old Santa Maura now, In its place is a roll on/roll off ferry. The hours seem to be as Vic explained, cos we just missed the 3.30 and went thro 6pm opening today, from north. Lots of boats going both ways. The spit mostly gone, and depths were much deeper( 4mtrs at shallowest), which was helpful, as lots of yachts milling about - we tied up alongside, and wind was v fresh.. Lots of pressure on guys to delay opening, as heavy road traffic. Pick your time when it's quiet, or have a Cuppa while waiting.

The change over happened on 24 June: we came through from the north on 22 June with the normal floating bridge in place, but the replacement ferry was sitting waiting to be positioned. Notices about the changes in timings went up in Lefkas marina on 23 June for implementation as from 24 June.

Do any of the notices say how long the ferry option will be in place? We are due through in about three weeks time.

Meantime, chilling in Sivota awaiting the Italian invasion!!

The marina notices gave 31 July as the last day when the ferry will be in position with the bridge expected back on 1 August. I'll post again if there's any change I hear about.

The times are still correct. The Santa Maura is due back in place 1 Augusthe when times will revert to on the hour.

The work on the floating bridge footings would appear to be complete as the crane barge was moved off site late on Friday. We're in Lefkas marina just now and everyone is expecting the floating bridge to be back in place on time. If I hear of any changes, I'll post on here.

Update, the bridge is now back in place, found out when I tried for the 7.30 time and found Ferry gone and resumed to normal bridge opening times on the hour
