I wasn't sure where to post this so will try in several forums as my question is not boat type specific.

We have a Princess35 motorboat and are thinking of taking her over to France in September and storing her on the hard until May 2017 when we will launch and cruise the French inland waterways until September. We hope to continue this cycle for a few years until we get bored with the French canals.

The thinking of storing her on the hard in France (probably in the marina boatyard at Rouen) is based on the relative cheapness of French boatyards/marinas compared to the UK. It will also mean we are already on the French waterways and save us time crossing the Channel and timing the journey up the Seine from Le Havre to Rouen.

We decided to store on the hard as we think this better as we will be leaving her for 8 months. We considered leaving her in the water but we won't be able to visit her easily as we will be living in The Algarve. We think she will be safer and more secure on the hard. We will leave a de-humidifier running and will pay for guardianage whilst we are away.

I am interested to hear from anyone who has stored their boat on the hard in France. Can they recommend the boatyard? Did they pay for someone to check it periodically? Any advice etc?

Thanking you in advance.

The Yard at Rouen (going up river, port side, before bridge) is very good and secure.
For the type of place and location it's very good value, not sure if they have a time limit ashore.
Easy to get to by car or train.
