Leaving boat with small solar charge

Just about to leave the boat in Spain for a few months.
I have in the past left a very small (0.3 amp) solar panel connected.
I have a new panel giving out a bit more power (0.5).
Is this ok? Recommended?

We do this all the time (actually bigger - up to 1.5A) on our swinging mooring but there is a regulator.

How many batteries are connected together ? What capacity are they ? Is the panel angled towards max sun ? What's the rated power of the panel in W ?

Very roughly, with a (nominal) 12v system, the panel will output 6 to 10W, so applying the 10% rule , you could use that on a 100Ah battery and larger.

A controller would be advantageous , and a fuse on the positive wire as close to the battery as poss would be essential.

I used a 20W panel on my domestic bank 2 X 110 Ah batteries in North Wales. Worked fine for two years without a regulator
