I wasn't aware that Leatherman give a 25 year warranty (maybe I was but had forgotten).

I have two aging Leatherman Waves, both whose plier handles had either seized or would not lock properly. I was about to buy another one when a friend told me to send them off here as they would fix them. https://uk.leatherman.com/pages/customerservice-warranty

I sent them off on Monday and this morning two shiny new ones arrived at my door free of charge.

Wow.

Excellent service from Leatherman.

When I started diving last year, a friend gave me his old (2011) Atomic scuba mask. A month ago, one of the strap buckles broke. The UK agent ordered a new set from the USA and is posting to me FOC.

We've got so used to crap service, companies like these really do stand out and deserve to do well.

It might be excellent service, but with Leatherman prices you're paying for two or three tools and getting one! Perhaps that warranty isn't so generous?

I've read Post 4 and agree with post 3.

25 years is a lot of Leatherman

Fortress do the same with their anchors - who else does it?

Hmm. I wonder if the guarantee extends to accessories 🤔.

The scabbard for my leatherman has elasticated sides which have gone floppy (or non-hooky as one of my Uni lecturers described a spring that was outside the limits of Hooke’s law)

Facom tools also give a lifetime warranty and better prices than Snap On
Do they implement it in a similar way? I believe Snapon are well regarded by pros because they deliver replacements quickly to reduce downtime, not just because they replace them. I assume the premium is also at least partly the well known name

At the other end of the budget, Halfords also offer lifetime guarantee on their "Advanced" tools. My socket set is over 20 years old and doing good service.

And I can confirm they honour that guarantee without quibble. Twice myself and once I saw someone else. No receipt required. You take in a broken spanner, they give you a new one.

On one occasion the guy asked if it was part of a set and I said no. I got the feeling if I'd said yes he'd have given me a set.

Yes, I used a long thin Halfords screwdriver at work for probing surfaces or checking for timber rot. They inevitably got blunt or snapped. Took into Halfords and replaced FOC, three time!

A friend was at Cowes Week and watching a sales demonstration of expensive deck shoes, can't remember the brand,Sebago, Dubarry perhaps.
The salesman was warming to his task and the lads were winding him up. One asked why the should buy such expensive shoes.
"Well they are the best, you'll never wear them out"
"What, never?"
"Never"
"So they are guaranteed for life then?
The salesman could taste a sale coming.
"Definitely"
Friend took his shoes off which looked like he had stood on a landmine.
"I'll have a new pair of these then"
The crowd were backing the guy up and he got his new shoes.

The only time that I have been on a Snap On van was to purchase a 1/4 drive ratchet.
I asked about the warranty on the ratchet and was informed that there was non on the ratchet mechanism. I also asked about the general warranty and was told about damage such as hammer marks not being covered.
I didn't have an account so don't know if that made any difference.

Never been on one of their vans again.

After 20+ years of fairly regular saling and walking use my much patched Tilley hat was looking rather tatty so thought I'd try the lifetime warranty.
Sent the old one off asking for a new one and the old one back for 'sentimental reasons'.
New and old turmed up a couple of weeks later.
Full marks to Tilley.

I realized after a good few years that I was missing a torx bit in my halford set and had 2 T35s instead. The guy just replaced the full set and it was the largest set available. Can't argue with that

Unfortunately it's only valid for the ''original purchaser'', one must show the original invoice under one's own name, which rules out anchors bought second hand (and many are Fortress) or during times when invoices were paper only and one forgot to keep it somewhere :D

That is not my experience, although what you state is part of their warranty. I bought a second hand Fortress with a bent shank, sold on here a few years ago, contacted the company, and they sent me a new shank. They only wanted to know what was the colour of the text, blue or red.
